Senior Social Worker and Therapist
Hi, I’m Jackie. I am a senior social worker and therapist working for ‘Here For You’ (Essex)
I have been a qualified social worker since 1993, and I have worked across many different areas including disability, fostering, and mental health. I qualified with a Masters in Couple and Family Therapy in 2011 when I was living and working in Australia. I have worked for the South Australia Police, and in two large hospitals in Sydney in their Employee Assistance programmes. I have also worked in private practice as a therapist, both here and in Australia. Back in the UK since 2013, I have worked in Secondary mental health and In-patient wards, as well as carrying out Fostering assessments and supporting foster carers. I am also an approved mental health professional and I am part of the Southend AMHP rota.
In my current role, I work across the Mid South Essex Trust but also in other areas as required. As well as initial assessments and one to one therapy, I provide team support and training, in areas such as stress management, trauma and dealing with serious incidents. I have a special interest in family and team dynamics and I have an interest in trauma-focussed therapy and the impact of discrimination and oppression on individuals and families. My approach is broadly systemic, but I also use narrative therapy approaches, as well as CBT and mindfulness. I have a strong belief in social justice and fairness which hope translates into a person centred, warm and accessible approach. I joined the HFY team in March 2022 and I am thrilled to be part of this new service supporting staff.
