Assistant Psychologist (Essex)
Hi, I’m Nikila. I am an Assistant Psychologist at Here For You (Essex). I joined the ‘Here For You’ team in November 2022. I have developed a variety of skills in assessment, intervention and communication from working with individuals from different backgrounds including young people, survivors of domestic abuse, adults with complex needs and inpatient older adults. I aim to continue to grow my knowledge by gaining experience in different mental health settings. I am proud to be a part of an NHS service that supports those who work within healthcare, non-profit, social care and the voluntary sector.
Additionally, as a South Asian Tamil woman living in the UK and working in psychology, I understand the importance of integrating culture and context into psychological practice. Therefore, I am hoping to become a qualified Clinical Psychologist and employ the skills I’m learning from this role such as approaches in Compassion Focused Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and look to promote and use these inclusive approaches to service users, especially those from minority groups. Compassion, Inclusivity and Authenticity are important values for my work and I look forward to use them throughout my career in psychology. My outside interests include doing make up looks, walking my loveable dog called Nila (means ‘moon’ in Tamil) and travelling!
