Senior Social Worker (Essex)
Hello, I’m Rob. I am a senior social worker in the Essex part of the Here For You service. I joined the team in May 2022 and have worked in the NHS and social care for ten years across primary care, learning disability and mental health services. Alongside my work with Here for You I am an Approved Mental Health Professional working on the Essex AMHP rota.
With Here For You I provide assessments, brief individual therapy, webinars and team support – ranging from education sessions through to specific support following a traumatic or distressing event. My practice is informed by systemic, solution focused and cognitive behavioural approaches, alongside mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. For me understanding the social, political and cultural context of mental distress is essential. It shines light on experiences of oppression and discrimination and helps us move away from an overly-medicalised understanding of the diverse range of human experiences. I see our physical, mental and social wellbeing as intrinsically connected and work from the position that we are all carry a rich array of strengths and personal experiences with us. Outside of work I love mountain biking & music.
