World Suicide Prevention Day Friday, September 10, 2021

Would you know what to say to someone who is in emotional distress? It’s World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10, and to mark the day, we are encouraging people to undertake a free 20-minute training course developed by the Zero Suicide Alliance. Our vision is to reach a point where no-one ever gets to a point where they feel suicide is their only option. With mental health issues increasing since the start of the pandemic, it’s more important than ever we all play our part in looking out for each other. Many people are afraid of having a difficult conversation with someone they are worried about, because they don’t know what they should say. This training helps people understand it’s OK to talk about suicide and how to help someone who is in distress. By spotting the signs, knowing what to say and signposting to help you could save someone’s life. To take the training simply visit https://www.relias.co.uk/hubfs/ZSA-FullTraining-10012020/story_html5.html or search Zero Suicide Alliance training online. You are also invited to join a virtual conference on Friday 10 September 2021 9.15am-1pm, to find out more about Hertfordshire’s suicide prevention work. Please register your interest at: hpft.wspd@nhs.net NHS111 option 2 is always available, providing specialist mental health support to anyone in need.
